A Moment Of Beauty (From Candle's FAWM 2012 Notes)
My entry for the Kick-Off Songskirmish # 1
fawm.org/forums/thread/2806/
The word "Midnight" was my inspiration. I find Midnight a Beautiful Moment because I am naturally a Night-Hawk & often do some of my best artistic work in & around Midnight. I also love to go for Midnight Walks on hot summer nights. There is something to be said for the apparent freedom one has when walking through the world in its darkest hour.
As always, this song was recorded live to tape with no overdubs in post production. I used the following setup to record (in order of the signal chain):
2000 Fender Deluxe Stratocaster
Korg GT-2 Guitar Tuner
Boss CE-3 Stereo Chorus
DigiTech Grunge
RadioShack DSM-8040 Stereo Sound Mixer With Digital Sampling
Jeskola Buzz Beta - Build 1437
(The Following Are Buzz Machines)
Jeskola ASIO Input
Geonik Gate
Cheapo Do-Nothing (Used as an Input Volume Control)
- From here the signal splits into Effects Chains -
FX Chain 1: Cheapo Do Nothing (Used to route the Dry "Thru" Signal)
FX Chain 2: FSM Tunaman
FX Chain 3: FreeAmp 2.5 VST
FX Chain 4: Devon's Leslie
FX Chain 5: Rymix Flaser Box
FX Chain 6 & 7: J.R. Bandpass Fliter v.2 -> Harcs Vision (Signal Analyzer) -> BTDSys Peer Envelope
- The two Peer Envelopes in FX Chains 6 & 7 then control two seperate BTDSys Peer LFOs; which in turn conrol two seperate jmmcd Peer Note Pools; each of which control Geonik's PrimiFun & an ASET 2121 VSTI respectively.
The signals from FX Chains 1-5 are then routed into an IX Patchbay; which then routes to four seperate Polac Outs. The first three then are patched directly into an LD Mixer (panned Left, Center & Right respectively). The last Polac Out then runs into a Jeskola Delay; which then runs into a Cheapo Do-Nothing (used as a Volume Control); into a SonicVerb & finally into the LD Mixer.
The signals from FX Chains 6 & 7 are routed to seperate Cheapo Do-Nothings (again, used as Volume Controls & Routing place holders) & finally into the LD Mixer.
From the LD Mixer, the signal then runs into the Master Effects Chain:
Rymix StereoBox Pro
SonicVerb
Automation Parametric EQ
Joachim's Limiter
Smurf VU Meter
And finally into Buzz's Master Machine (Buzz's output to the soundcard).
The signal from buzz is then routed to:
A DigiTech JamMan
Audacity 1.3.14 (used as the final recorder).
