Titan Spring

about

In my mind, Titan Spring is an example of one of Humanity's next steps - beyond the moon. From the moon of Earth to the biggest moon in the solar system, we find two exploring astronaughts on the surface of Titan. A crack suddenly appears in the nitrogen ice (Titan is covered in ice made from nitrogen) & one of the explorers falls through. And then (at least this was the sense I got from Johnny's prose) you get one of those 2001 Dave Bowman moments. You know - his last transmission to Earth: "My God, it's full of stars!"

lyrics

Titan Spring

we once ventured to Titan
an left our Moon behind
both of us feeling enlightened
trusting ourselves flying blind
blind to the power of gravity
the binding of Saturn's rings
that robbed us of our velocity
when crashed on that Titan spring
cracks in the ice were forming
we could see a new world below
when suddenly without warning
you slipped on the nitrogen snow
I listened all the way down
you were screaming into your Com.
an then, there wasn't a sound
till a voice came back to me, calm
"O my God, it's so beautiful"
those were the first words you said
"Under the ice, it's wonderful
there's a crystal sky overhead
So packing up our provisions
I then ventured into the ice
to locate your last position
an find Titan's paradise
