"You shouldn't have come down here, human." The voice of the fiend was deep and filled with malice.
"Release the girl and you can go in peace, Shadowspawn." Silas Howe replied, ignoring the veiled threat. His right hand was on the butt of his revolver at his hip. His blue eyes fixed on the leathery-skinned humanoid.
"Go back to your town, Human." The spawn's words dripped with venom. "The girl is no longer your concern."
The muzzle flash was sudden and shock filled the eyes of the fiend. Silas Howe had drawn his weapon faster than the fiend could have ever realized. The Shadowspawn fell back against the cavern wall, a dark stain spreading across the middle of its muscular chest.
"I did give you the choice." The gunslinger told the dying fiend, regret in his voice.
