I've been reading up on Arabic music lately, specifically the use of Maqamat in defining Arabic musical "modes". This is my first experiment with arabic of tonality & rhythm after reading & learning about Maqamat. This song is written in 19/4 using the Athar Kurd Jinn for the melody. Pharaoh Seqenen Rā II Tau-āa Āa (more commonly known as Seqenenre Tau II) was one of the last Egyptian Pharaohs of the 17th Dynasty of ancient Egypt. This was a period of strife & division in Egypt with the foreign Hyksos rulling the Nile Delta & the traditional Pharaohs of Egypt relegated to the south. Seqenenre Tau II was possibily assassinated or died in battle, as his mummy is one of the few Egyptian Pharaohs to display signs of a violent end. His two sons Kamose & Amose were successful in driving the Hyksos out of Egypt. Amose founded the 18th Dynasty which saw the return of Egyptian power & glory. Tutankhamen, the famous boy-Pharaoh from the 18th Dynasty, is a descendant of these little known freedom-fighting kings.
